Liverpool picked up what could proved to be an all important three points on the way to a top four finish.

Albeit far from a vintage performance from the visitors, The Reds ground out and battled hard at times to ensure a 3-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.

In a match dubbed a 'semi final' by Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool took the lead on the stroke of half time when an onrushing Roberto Firmino fired home a low Andy Robertson cross.

Dominant defender Nat Phillips doubled the lead with a powerful header after the break before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain rounded off the scoring with a well taken goal.

Klopp spoke to the media after a big night on the road.

  • On The Performance

''It was a top, top performance. You cannot give away chances against Burnley. They obviously wanted to go for it against our centre-halves, our boys did extraordinary well.''

  • On Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

''Good, remember for him how good he is. That helps us a lot.''

  • On The Centre Backs

''Nat (Phillips) and Rhys (Williams) after a nervy start passing wise - saved us basically.''

  • On Sunday

''We just have to stay focussed on the next game. Its been tough for us. Tonight was good enough.''

Liverpool now face Crystal Palace on Sunday at Anfield - knowing a win will all but secure a finish in the top four.
