Just a few months into the managing director job but its safe to say that Fabio Paratici is marking the beginning of a new era at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Italian has secured one of the best transfers in recent years for the Spurs, as the Argentinian International, Cristian Romero has signed a five-year deal with Tottenham until 2026 for a transfer fee of £42.5m.

He will wear the number four shirt for Spurs.

Characteristics

The 23 year-old, who was named Serie A Defender of the Year last season with Atalanta, also won the Copa América title with Argentina during the summer.

His performances helped Atalanta to a third-successive third place league finish.

Romero, a versatile defender capable to play as a centre-back or right-back, played 42 games across all competitions last season, recording three goals and five assists,

The Italian director, Paratici previously signed the Argentinian during his tenure at Juventus, that's why Romero was pushing for this deal to be completed.

Impact

Spurs really struggled last season in defense, therefore the energy from 'Cuti' should transform the 'Lilywhites' back-line into one of the strongest of the Premier League.

''I'm very happy to be part of this Club,'' Romero told Spurs TV when the signing was made official. ''I want to thank all the fans as well. You wanted me here and here I am!

Now I'll try and respond and repay all the faith that the Club is showing in me. I'm ready to start and give my everything to defend this shirt. Come on you Spurs!''

Following the departs from Erik Lamela and Paulo Gazzaniga during the summer, 'EL Cuti' joins Gio LoCelso as the only Argentina players in the Tottenham squad.

He also becomes the third signing from the Paratici era at Spurs, along with Pierluigi Golliniand Bryan Gil
