Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea welcome David Moyes' West Ham with not-so-welcome arms at Stamford Bridge this Saturday afternoon, with both teams hungry for points on the Premier League table.

After five games it has been less than an ideal start for either team, both sitting in the middle of the table with a combined goal difference of minus 6.

Although neither team has truly set off the starting blocks, with a win away at Villa Park and a stubborn stalemate against an on-form Tottenham, West Ham look like they could be building some kind of momentum.

The blue lions on the other hand look more like timid kittens. Weak, fragile and undisciplined, this Chelsea team is paying homage to their past demons, matching the point tally after five games of their infamous, tragic 2015/16 campaign.

The term southwest London is blue has been nothing but standard football knowledge for the past 20 years. But now, it seems an equally acceptable description of the down-beat, melancholic feeling around Stamford Bridge.

Nonetheless, despite Chelsea's seemingly best efforts, they remain undefeated at home so far this season, hence the Hammer's trip across London will come with big hurdles.

Team News

Chelsea

Chelsea have had a series of unfortunate injuries that undoubtedly have impacted their results. However, head coach Thomas Tuchel seemed pleased with his team selection when speaking to the media about his squad availability.

"[Ruben] Loftus-Cheek and Reece James are back in training and both available. So, at the moment, Ngolo [Kante] is out, but everyone else has been training - a group of 19 players," said Tuchel.

Kante's return will be even more staggered and stretched due to his well known injury history.

Conor Gallagher is also set to return to the squad after a one game suspension following his rash red card against Leicester

It is also likely that Chelsea's new £70m signing, Wesley Fofana, will make his debut for the club - a defensive reinforcement who promises to add stability to the blues.

When asked about his other new signings, Tuchel gave an update on both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Denis Zakaria: "We need to provide Auba a mask as he cracked his jaw and then we can start to try training with the mask from next week," he says.

"With Denis, my understanding is we need to work on his work permit, so he will not be in the squad for Saturday, it is too close. But we hope for Tuesday."

West Ham

Meanwhile, there are some key names potentially missing from the West Ham lineup, with David Moyes providing an update on his squad.

"Ben Johnson is not available, and we are still waiting to see how Gianluca [Scamacca] and Aaron Cresswell are. There will be some late decision to be made for the both of them," he said.

Nayef Aguerd remains on the road to recovery from his ankle injury back in July.

Lucas Paquetá made his West Ham debut from the bench on Wednesday and is expected to get some more crucial minutes in for his new side after a positive week of training.

Predicted Lineups

Chelsea

Mendy; Koulibaly, Silva, Fofana; Cucurella, Kovacic, Jorginho, James; Pulisic, Broja, Sterling

West Ham

Fabianski; Emerson, Zouma, Kehrer, Coufal; Soucek, Rice; Fornals, Pacqueta, Bowen; Antonio

Key Players

Chelsea - Armando Broja

The obvious pick, of course, would be the French starlet Wesley Fofana, but Chelsea have been lacking a clear goal threat and Broja could solve this missing link.

His loan spell at Southampton last year showed raw, frightening talent, as he quickly became a fan favourite for Ralph Hasenhüttl's side.

Broja is lightning quick, impressive in the air, aggressive, hungry and determined to show the Chelsea fans what he can do. After an exciting 15-minute cameo versus Southampton last Tuesday, and the declining form of Kai Havertz, we expect the Armenian road runner to brand his name on the scoresheet - even if it is from another appearance off the bench.

West Ham - Lucas Paqueta

Following his £50m move to The Iron's - their second highest transfer of all time - major expectations are to be had of Paqueta.

He is an extremely versatile player, with a creative Brazilian flair. He can add both goals and assists to West Ham's lacklustre attack, who have only managed two goals thus far this campaign.

Perhaps Paqueta's most impressive attribute is his defensive qualities in the final third, averaging 23 pressures per 90 for Lyon last season, which may disrupt Chelsea's unsettled back line.

Stylish with an elegant edge, the 25-year-old playmaker could spark his season off along with West Ham's.
