Out-of-form Bristol City will be looking to get back to winning ways as they welcome fellow strugglers Coventry to Ashton Gate on Tuesday night.

Bristol City come into the game having lost their last three in the Championship, most recently at home to QPR on Saturday, thanks to goals from Stefan Johansen and Tyler Roberts.

Whereas Coventry come into the game having picked up their first win over the weekend, after a dogged 1-0 win over Middlesbrough in the Midlands in which Viktor Gyokeres scored the winner.

It was Gyokeres who scored a late winner for Coventry in this fixture last season, and their manager Mark Robins will be hoping his Swedish frontman can repeat that feat here.

Team News

Bristol City

Robins manager Nigel Pearson has a fresh selection concern to deal with ahead of Tuesday's match, with midfielder Alex Scott out after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against QPR.

Scott will now miss Coventry's visit but will be available for the trip to Birmingham.

As well as Scott's suspension, it has been confirmed by CoventryLive that former Sky Blues man Matty James remains unavailable for Pearson following a minor groin operation which kept him out of the defeat to QPR.

Furthermore, as per BristolLive, defender Timm Klose remains unavailable for the Robins due to ongoing personal issues.

Although, Klose was in attendance for the QPR match, which could indicate that a return is not too far away.

Coventry City

The Sky Blues' season has been plagued by selection issues so far, so manager Robins seems to be employing caution at the moment to ensure players are back, and back to stay

Defender Michael Rose was fit enough to return to the bench for the win over Middlesbrough, following a low grade groin tear and as such should be fit to start against Bristol should Robins wish, as per CoventryLive.

Midfielders Liam Kelly and Callum O'Hare are also both nearing a return to the fold for Robins, with the manager confirming that both players were close to a return from their hamstring injuries.

Although the trip to Bristol might still come too soon for either of the pair.

Sky Blues star man Gustavo Hamer will also be staying put in the Midlands as his teammates travel to Ashton Gate, as he serves the rest of his four-match ban, following his red card against Birmingham.

Coventry City

Key Players

Tommy Conway

This season has the potential to be a real breakout campaign for Tommy Conway.

The 20-year-old forward has already notched seven goal contributions (five goals and two assists) in 11 Championship appearances this season, as per WhoScored.

He also scored twice when the sides met earlier this season in the first round of the Carabao Cup, when Bristol ran away 4-1 winners.

Pearson will be hoping his academy graduate will be able to emulate that sort of performance and help his team to a much-needed win on Tuesday night.

Kasey Palmer

Former Robins man Kasey Palmer will be looking to build on an impressive first home start for Coventry in their victory over Middlesbrough, when he travels to his former club.

Palmer gave a good account of himself on Saturday, earning plaudits from his manager Robins, he said:

Kasey was outstanding in the first half, he controlled our attacks and we looked fluid and a threat and clearly we’re trying to build confidence into the players.”

Palmer joined Coventry from Bristol City for an undisclosed fee over the summer and so the 25-year-old will be looking to prove his former employers wrong in letting him leave.
