Saturday should see a very entertaining fixture in the championship between Hull City and Coventry City, with both sides desperate to pick up the three points on offer at the MKM stadium.

Hull City currently sit sixth in the division, picking up eight points from their first five league games. During this, they have won twice and their only league defeat, came during a five-two battering against West Bromwich Albion.

As for Coventry City, they will be desperate to pick up their first victory of the season after having a start halted by match postponements due to ongoing pitch issues as the CBS arena. The Skyblues drew to Sunderland before losing to Millwall

  • Team news

Hull

The Tigers have been struck down with injury concerns ahead of Saturday's home match against Coventry. Star midfielder Ozan Tufan is absent from the team after suffering a hamstring injury. The likes of Nathan Baxter, John Michael Seri and new signing Salah-Eddine Oulad M'Hand are all out injured.

Elsewhere, Ryan Woods could be handed his full debut for the club, as a direct replacement for Tufan. Similarly, striker Tyler Smith and winger Ryan Longman are both fit and available for Shota Arveladze's side. Full-back Cyrus Christie is expected to feature against his boyhood club after joining the Tigers on Friday.

Coventry

The Sky Blues will be without star man Gustavo Hamer following his red card against Millwall. This means Jamie Allen is likely to feature in his place. Another blow for Mark Robins’ side is defender Dominic Hyam will miss the game, with reports suggesting that he is set to sign for Blackburn Rovers

This could allow loanee Callum Doyle to make his first league appearance for the club, either him or Michael Rose could partner Kyle McFadzean and Jonathan Panzo in defence. Callum O'Hare will also miss the match due to an ongoing hamstring injury but aside from that, Coventry are full strength.

  • Likely lineups

Hull

Ingram (GK) ; Coyle, Figueredo, Greaves, Elder ; Slater, Jones ; Longman, Smith, Tetteh ; Estupinan (4-2-3-1)

Coventry

Moore (GK) ; Dabo, Rose, McFadzean, Panzo, Bidwell ; Allen, Sheaf ; Palmer ; Godden, Gyokeres (5-2-1-2)

  • Key players

Oscar Estupinan

Colombian striker Oscar Estupinan has enjoyed an outstanding start to life in England since his summer move from Portuguese side Vit. Guimaraes. The move totalled roughly £3,500,000 which is a pricey move, especially in the second tier.

However, so far it has paid off with Estupinan scoring four goals and grabbing an assist in six appearances for the Tigers so far. This included scoring both goals in last weekends 5-2 defeat, although he was a standout performer. If Coventry aren't up to scratch defensively, they could definitely have their work cut out in containing the 25-year-old.

Viktor Gyokeres

Similarly for the Sky Blues, Swedish international Viktor Gyokeres will be keen to build on his opening day goal against Sunderland on Saturday afternoon. Given the lack of positivity surrounding the club over the last couple of weeks, three points would certainly be a turning point for the club and fans.

As mentioned above, due to the Sky Blues only playing twice in the league so far, Gyokeres has one goal to his name. He is a real handful as proven with his 17 league goals last season. The swede constantly runs all game and is the type of player that can create something from nothing so the Hull City defence need to bring their a-game.
