If Julen Lopetegui can steer Wolves to Premier League survival, their 2-1 win at Goodison Park will almost certainly be regarded as the turning point.

Wolves came from 1-0 down to take all three points as Rayan Ait Nouri scored the winning goal deep into stoppage time.

The Old Gold and Black have been here before, heading in to must win and season defining games, whether that be for promotion, a play-off push or avoiding the drop.

VAVEL have picked out five Wolves wins from the past decade that were season defining for the Molineux outfit.

After a record-breaking 2018/19 season, Wolves had a slow start to their 2019/20 campaign. Nuno Espirito Santo's side had picked up seven points from their opening seven league games.

After their first league win over Watford, followed by a historic Europa League win at Besiktas, a rotated Wolves side travelled to the home of the champions.

Both Patrick Cutrone and Raul Jimenez missed golden chances in the first half, before a dominant Man City side piled on the pressure late in the game.

Two Adama Traore goals in the dying moments gave the visitors a 2-0 win, the first time Pep Guardiola's City side had lost without scoring at The Etihad Stadium

The win was the third game in an 11 match unbeaten Premier League run, picking up 21 points in the process and moving from 19th to 6th in the league table.

Chelsea arrived at Molineux ready to face a Wolves side that had taken just one point from their previous six Premier League matches.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek's early opener set the tone for what was seemingly another defeat, before Ryan Bennett's now iconic tackle denied Willian from doubling The Blues' lead.

Wolves looked rejuvenated in the second half, scoring twice in the space of four minutes to turn the game on its head. Diogo Jota kick-started his top flight campaign, netting his first of the season, after Jimenez had levelled the score moments before.

Nuno's side went on to take 22 points from 11 games, form that Champions League sides would be happy with, although arguably more important than the run of form, the game sparked Jimenez into life.

The Mexican had only managed three goals in four months in England, but his goal against Chelsea was the catalyst for a run of form that would see him net 14 times in a five month spell.

From the glamour of a European push to the doom and gloom of a Championship relegation battle.

Paul Lambert's Wolves headed to Griffin Park on the back of an important, albeit scrappy, 1-0 win over Rotherham

An improved Wanderers side were perhaps unfortunate to fall behind to a Maxime Colin effort, while strikes from Nouha Dicko and Lee Evans were inches away from levelling the score.

In the final four minutes, goals from Matt Doherty and Helder Costa salvaged the three points for Wolves, wrapping up a deserved but dramatic victory.

The win meant Wolves had picked up seven points from three games, with Lambert's side carrying their momentum forwards to win their next three, ultimately the key to their Championship survival.

With 16 points from those six games, Wolves jumped from 21st to 15th and stretched their gap to the drop zone by 10 points.

After 14 games, Wolves were joint leaders of the 2014/15 Championship table.

Despite early success, Kenny Jackett's side endured a dismal run of fixtures, with one point from their next six games seeing the club fall to 13th in the league.

Wolves travelled to Hillsborough hampered with injuries and suspensions, leading to a striking partnership of Danny Graham and Rajiv Van La Parra

It will not come as a surprise to Wolves fans that the duo failed to deliver. Leon Clarke replaced Graham late in the game, making an instant impact to steal the three points.

The game reignited hope around Molineux as the club picked up 18 points from their next eight games and became one of the Championship's most feared sides.

Winning the league with 103 points and only five defeats, Wolves had a spectacular and record-breaking League One campaign.

With such extravagant numbers, it is hard to think that Wolves were not always the run away leaders we remember.

A sub-par run from November to January saw Jackett's side collect six points from seven games, sitting behind Brentford and Leyton Orient in third.

Goals from Evans and Dave Edwards in a 2-0 win over Preston handed Wolves their first win in four games, and was the start of a club record nine victories in a row.

Wolves' remarkable run meant they sat two points clear at the top of League One having played two games less than second placed Orient.
