The wait is over, the Giants' $20 Million Dollar Man is back in the lineup. However, his future remains uncertain as to what role he will play in the lineup.

For Saturday's game against Wade Miley and the Arizona Diamondbacks, Marco Scutaro has returned back to his old spot, the second spot that is. A rightful spot for one of the most disciplined hitters in the lineup. If he can't get a hit in an at-bat, he can surely make the pitcher work to get him out.

However, we must proceed with caution on the 38 year old Venezuelan. Because of residual back pain, he will most likely have his starts platooned with rookie Joe Panik. Scutaro commented that while his back does feel better, it is "not the way it used to be."

Giants middle infielder Ehire Adrianza was also activated from the 15-day DL earlier this week, Juan Perez was sent down to Fresno-AAA in his place. So he could play a role in the platoon, along with utility infielder Joaquin Arias.

As a result of Scutaro's return, Brandon Hicks was designated for assignment. The struggling Hicks really began to show signs of weakness in May, and has not really been much of a presence in the lineup recently.

The veteran presence should be a boost to a team that his had inconsistent offensive since mid-June. While he is not expected to be batting .300 with a bad back, his approach at the plate will certainly a welcomed addition.
