In this week's Major League Baseball Power Rankings, there was little movement in the rankings since the All-Star Break cut out a series. Once again the top three teams stay in their positions for yet another week. The Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals have moved back into the top 10 this week while the Seattle Mariners and Cincinnati Reds have fallen out.
At the top: The Oakland Athletics remain the top team in the rankings and the team with the best record in baseball for another week. The Athletics, who find themselves in a tough battle with the surging Los Angeles Angels in the AL West, took two out of three from AL East leading Baltimore Orioles.
Biggest rise: The Atlanta Braves moved up four spots to #7 in the rankings this week. The Braves took two out of three from the Philadelphia Phillies in their first series of the second half. The Braves are tied with the Washington Nationals in the NL East.
Biggest Fall: The Milwaukee Brewers continue to fall in the standings and the power rankings, four spots to #10; a slump that began more than two weeks ago. The Brewers dropped two of three games to the Washington Nationals in their first post-break series. The Brewers were sitting at #2 in the rankings with the NL's best record when they entered their current rough patch. They are now on the verge of dropping out of the top 10 completely and out of first in the division.
At the bottom: It's a rough season for baseball in the state of Texas. Both Texan teams, Astros and Rangers, sit at the bottom of the rankings with the Rangers occupying the last spot for the second consecutive week. The Astros were expected to be at or near the bottom but the Rangers do come as a surprise.
