Dan Haren was tattooed for six runs over three innings in the series finale loss against the Milwaukee Brewers. Haren gave up five hits, walked three, and gave up a home run in the 7-2 defeat.

Haren has had some inconsistency issues in the back end of the rotation, falling to 10-10 on the season. Haren’s ERA sits at 4.59. After the bullpen got rest yesterday with Clayton Kershaw pitching, the bullpen was called upon early in the closing game at Dodger Stadium. Carlos Frias allowed one run in his four innings of relief, using 41 pitches. The boys in blue trailed 7-0 at the stretch. JP Howell and Pedro Baez finished out the rest of the game.

The Dodgers offense was silent until the eighth inning when they struck for two runs. Andre Ethier led off with a double and Scott Van Slyke followed with a double to drive in Ethier and put Los Angeles on the board. Ethier replaced Adrian Gonzalez at first base in the seventh inning, getting a hit in his only at bat. Carl Crawford flew out and Justin Turner grounded out for the first two outs of the inning. Darwin Barney doubled on a fly ball to right field to drive in Van Slyke. Barney finished the game as the only Dodger to have a multi-hit game, going 2-3 with an RBI and a walk.

The Dodgers were 2 for 10 with runners in scoring position, leaving nine runners on base. The usually productive combination of Dee Gordon, Yasiel Puig, and Adrian Gonzalez combined to go 2-11 with three strikeouts. Matt Kemp was 0-3 and Crawford was 1-3.

The Dodgers now sit at 70-56, holding a three and a half game lead over the Giants for first place in the NL West. The Dodgers and Giants play each other six more times this season. Los Angeles dropped five of the six games with Milwaukee that they have played over the past week. The Brewers trail the Dodgers by a half game for the best record in the National League. The Dodgers will have Monday off after playing twenty straight days and will welcome in the San Diego Padres for a three game series starting Tuesday.
