After playing in his final intersquad game in Viera, Florida, on Friday, Washington Nationals' infielder/outfielder Ryan Zimmerman has officially been activated from the disabled list, and is set to play in tonight's game against the Miami Marlins. Zimmerman, who has been on the disabled list since July 23rd with a torn hamstring, will start in left field and bat sixth.

This is obviously great timing for the Nationals, as they are set to play out the final nine games of the regular season, and enter the postseason after clinching the NL East this week. Zimmerman is expected to play multiple positions on the field, as he adjusts back to playing at the Major League level.

“I’m sure he’ll play third,” Nationals manager Matt Williams said. “I’m sure he’ll play first and left. He’ll come off the bench some probably, too. If we get an opportunity, and he’s not playing that day, we can get him at-bat.”

There has been no decision if Zimmerman will be on the postseason roster, but it should be largely dependent on how he performs over the final nine games of the regular season. Nevertheless, his presence on the field and in the clubhouse will surely be a boost to the team.
