The end of October has arrived; fall is in the air and everyone is focused on baseball as the AL Champion Kansas City Royals are taking on the NL Champion San Francisco Giants. Predicitions are being thrown around, and everyone is glued to their televisions to see who will win this years World Series. I agree that watching the World Series is very exciting, especially if your favorite team is still playing, but what about the other 30 teams around the league? What are they doing to improve their chances to win it all next year?

Every team around the league is looking for new additions to their roster that could potentially push them over the edge and turn them in to a "playoff team". Cuban outfielder Yasmany Tomas is one player who is drawing interest from a lot of teams as he could be the next Yasiel Puig or Jose Abreu. As of right now, the Philadelphia Phillies are seen as the frontrunners to sign the 23-year-old who has also been linked to the Dodgers, Padres, Twins, Rangers, Giants, and Tigers, according to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News.

Due to the fact that Philadelphia currently has a decent amount of money available and a very dry farm system, it is no surprise that they are seen as serious contenders to sign Tomas during the offseason. If and when he is to be signed, many people say that he will be worth about $75 Million over 5 years, but everyone knows that when a bidding war starts the price can go through the roof.

In the end its impossible to say with any certainty where Yasmany Tomas will end up, but the Phillies are definitely moving in the right direction if they want to bring him to the 'City of Brotherly Love'. Its been reported that General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr. has already made the trip to the Dominican Republic to see the outfielder for himself, so maybe its just a matter of time until Tomas is playing under the lights at Citizens Bank Park. Until that day comes I guess we'll just have to play the waiting game, stay tuned for updates.
