The Tampa Bay Rays have decided to pick up Ben Zobrist's option and remain with the team. Ben Zobrist is scheduled to make $7.5 million. Despite the Rays limited pay roll, they will play him in 2015. There was a fake trade that ESPN reported at the deadline. Fortunately, it was false and he's still a Ray. Ben Zobrist is no doubt the MVP of the team. Former Rays manager, Joe Maddon called him his favorite player at one point . Ben Zobrist gives everything he can on and off the field. He's been an inspiration and a great teammate to others.

This offseason, Zobrist was actually not really supposed to be on the team. In fact, there were other trade rumors about him leaving. The reason is the budget of course. There's still a possibility that he could be traded still buy it seems less likely.

Ben Zobrist has been with the team for ten years in 2015 and that's the longest tenure with the Rays currently. This season he batted .272 and scored 83 runs. In a team that had a terrible offense in 2014 he was the one bright spot. He won the first ever MVP Don Zimmer award. Which was given out by the Tampa Bay Times. Just like the other Rays managers, he's involved with various charities and attends different charitable events. He's also active in his religious faith.

In a statement, Rays VP Chaim Bloom said:
"Ben has been integral to the success that the Rays have enjoyed throughout his career here. His skill and versatility on the field, combined with his character and selflessness, make him the ultimate team player. We are excited to continue forward with him.''
