Chris Sale has made the American League All-Star Team, and is quite deserving. He has been phenomenal all season, going 7-4, with 147 strikeouts and just 22 walks. He has an ERA of 2.80, and a WHIP of 0.94. Clearly those numbers pushed him into the All-Star game on his own right, instead of having to depend on the Final Vote, which he was able to win last season. It is really great to see the players and coaches realize his talent and put him on the roster early instead of having to wait for the fans. But Chris Sale is not the only good player on the struggling Chicago White Sox. But there are not any other White Sox players listed for either the final vote or as All-Star starters or reserves.

Last season, Jose Abreu was a rookie, and was the overwhelming American League Rookie of the Year. This year he still has 14 home runs, 45 RBIs, and is batting .292, but he is at the loaded position of first base, which makes it tough to make the roster in back to back seasons.

Also, last year the White Sox were represented by shortstop Alexei Ramirez, as everyone remembers him taking an extra minute or two during last year's All-Star game when they put Derek Jeter out on the field before they pulled him for his curtain call out at Target Field in Minnesota. Ramirez would not be a good selection for this year's all star team though, as he has a low .226 batting average, just 2 home runs, and 26 RBIs. He does lead the White Sox with 9 stolen bases, but that speed is more frequently found at the shortstop position.

The other current White Sox player that was on the All-Star team last season was Jeff Samardzija. He hasn't been as good as he was during the first half of the season with the Oakland Athletics last year, going 5-4 with a 4.33 ERA.

The good news for the White Sox, despite having less All-Stars in the game, is that there is a legitimate chance that Ned Yost will select Chris Sale to start the All-Star game and that will highlight just how talented the lefty is in Chicago. At this point, that is the only silver lining for White Sox fans in these selections.
