All-Stars Shine For Halos, Los Angeles Angels Defeat Colorado Rockies

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim powered their was past the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday Night. Behind four home runs and a stellar outing helped the Angels cruise to an easy victory.

DENVER, CO -- The Los Angeles Angels continued their winning ways on Tuesday night at Coors Field. Scoring 31 runs the previous weekend, the Angels brought their smoldering lumber to the Rocky Mountain region and did not cool off, dropping 10 runs on the Rockies.

All-Stars Mike Trout and Albert Pujols exemplified exactly why they deserve to be in the Mid-Summer Classic in Cincinnati. Pujols, who finished the night 1-5 with 3 RBIs, hit a monster three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to start the evening for the Halo’s. Trout followed up with a three-run big fly of his own in the second inning to extend the Anaheim lead to 8-0. Trout finished the day 2-4 with 3 RBI’s.

Rockies starting pitcher Chad Bettis (4-4) threw batting practice to the Angels hitters Tuesday night. Bettis went 2 1/3 innings, surrendering 10 runs on 8 hits, including 4 home runs.

The Angels received a tremendous outing from Andrew Heaney (2-0). The former first rounder tossed 7 1/3 innings strong, surrendering 2 runs on 8 hits and recording 5 strikeouts. The rookie was very dominate against the Rockies and extending the Angels winning streak at Coors Field to 6 games.

All-Star second baseman DJ LeMahieu showed exactly why he was selected on Tuesday night. Not only continue to flash the leather in the infield, LeMahieu went 3-4 at the dish accounting for almost half of the Colorado hit total.

Short stop Troy Tulowitzki extended his Major League leading 19 game hitting streak with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning. Tulowitzki, looking to jump into the last NL All-Star roster spot, finished the night 1-4 with an RBI.

The Rockies and Angels wrap up the quick two game set tomorrow at Coors Field. The Angels send Matt Shoemaker (4-7) to the hill to square off against Rockies starter Chris Rusin (3-3). First pitch is slated for Wednesday, July 8 at 8:40 PM. EST. The game can be seen on ROOT Sports and Fox Sports West.
