With Johnny Cueto being a free agent this upcoming off-season, it was only a matter of time before his moment of being dealt arrived. Today, the Cincinnati Reds finally pulled the trigger by shipping their All-Star ace to Kansas City for 2014 first round pick Brandon Finnegan, 2015 Pacific Coast League All-Star John Lamb, and Double-A left-hander Cody Reed. Potential contributors are always nice in return for a star, but who are these three pitchers that have just joined Cincinnati's organization?

Cody Reed (LHP)
Draft: Second round (2013, KC)
Highest Level: Double-A
Prospect Rank (CIN): 7th
Age: 22

Isn't it amazing how much one can do in two years? If he or she doesn't agree, just ask Cody Reed, who skyrocketed his draft stock as well as his fastball's velocity after two seasons at Northwest Mississippi Community College. Since his junior college days, the 6'5" starter has moved through the Royals' system at a good pace, despite being hit hard during his first two campaigns. This season Reed has been able to pound the strikezone as well as make hitters miss, allowing him to enter today with a 7-7 record, a 2.53 ERA, and 84 strikeouts in 96 innings between Wilmington (Single-A Advanced) and Northwest Arkansas (Double-A).

John Lamb (LHP)
Draft: Fifth round (2008, KC)
Highest Level: Triple-A
Prospect Rank (CIN): 13th
Age: 25

From a fractured elbow that occurred his senior year of high school, to Tommy John surgery after blowing out his arm in 2011, John Lamb has dealt with more than the average share of problems. Nonetheless, he has overcame every instance of adversity while re-establishing himself for the second time as one of the best left-handed prospects in the game. The lanky southpaw has absolutley dominated the hitter friendly Pacific Coast League (Triple-A) by going 9-1 with a 2.67 ERA and 96 strikeouts over 94.1 frames. Although Lamb is unable to "stir up the storm" with the fastball, his control and command, which is MLB ready, plays a huge role in his success.

Brandon Finnegan (LHP)
Draft: 17th overall pick (2014, KC)
Highest Level: MLB
Prospect Rank (CIN): Rookie Status Gone
Age: 22

Due to being the first player in history to play in the College World Series and the MLB World Series in the same season, Brandon Finnegan has been on everyone's radar from the beginning. In addition to being the first player to make his Major League debut from last year's draft, the Fort Worth native was thought to be a huge piece of the Royals' future going forward. Now he is property of the Queen City. A luxury for the Reds is that Finnegan has great experience as a starter, in addition to the bullpen. Meaning, they can choose from either route for the former top prospect. So far this season, the lefty's play in the Majors in comparison to Triple-A has been night and day as he has been fantastic for Kansas City (3-0, 2.96 ERA, and 21 strikeouts in 14 relief appearances) but mediocre for Omaha (0-2, 7.07, and 19 strikeouts in six games/four starts).

As of right now, General Manager Walt Jocketty and the Reds have made no indication of where and when these three great arms will make their organizational debuts.
