After being 'traded' yesterday to the Mets, we later learned that Carlos Gomez was not heading to New York. However, he has finally been dealt and it is for.

The Houston Astros have received outfielder Carlos Gomez and right-handed pitcher Mike Fiers from the Milwaukee Brewers, plus a international signing spot according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. Four prospects are going to the Brewers according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Gomez was to be traded to the New York Mets, but the trade fell through. There was speculation on not if Gomez was going to be traded, but when, because it was just a matter of time before he would be shipped from the Brewers. The 29-year-old is hitting .262 with 43 RBIs. The two time All-Star will step in and make an major impact for the Astros as the team's center field production has dropped since Colby Rasmus moved to right field. Also with George Springer being out, the Astros needed to make this move. The Astros have control over Gomez until after next season.

The Astros also got Fiers who is having a very good season. The 30-year-old was pitching a 3.89 ERA in 21 games out of the bullpen for the Brewers. The Astros now add Fiers to the bullpen where they already have Pat Neshek, Chad Qualls, and Luke Gregerson. That a pretty good bullpen and the Astros need it if they want to make the playoffs and make a deep run. He could even start for the Astros if necessary. Fiers will not become a free agent until the end of the 2019 season.

The Brewers got a pretty good haul for the two veterans. The team received outfielders Brett Phillips and Domingo Santana plus left-handed pitcher Josh Hader and right-handed pitcher Adrian Houser. Phillips was one of the 'Stros top MiLB hitters, as he is hitting .320 in Double-A and has a career .298 average. The 21-year-old is regarded as a stud to scouts. Santana has played 14 games in the majors this year and was hitting .256 with a .462 slugging percentage. He is only 22-years old. Hader is just 21-years old and in Double-A is 3-3 with a 3.17 ERA in 17 starts. Houser is another youngster in Double-A. At just 22-years old, he is 3-4 with a 5.10 ERA this year. The Brewers made out better in this deal then they would have with the Mets. They garnered four young, talented players for their future as they look to "rebuild".
