The Seattle Mariners came into Sunday's game in Chicago against the White Sox having won four of their last five games and were looking for a series win against the South-siders.

Seattle came out of the gate quickly once again as Kyle Seager got them going with a two-run home run in the top of the first inning. This was Seager's third home run in as many games and after going through a 1-for-26 start to August, he looks to be back on track.

The White Sox did get one back in the bottom of the first, as Jose Abreu reached by an error that scored a run, but the Mariners played long ball once again in the top of the second. Austin Jackson kept the power hitting going with a two-run homer of his own that had Seattle out in front 4-1.

The score held until the fourth when Tyler Saladino doubled to right field to score Alexei Ramirez. That was followed by an RBI groundout by Adam Eaton which made the score 4-3 after four innings.

In the fifth, the Mariners threatened once again, spelling the end for White Sox starter Jose Quintana. Quintana lasted just 4.1 innings, giving up four runs on nine hits, but did strike out eight while walking three.

As for the Mariners, Edgar Olmos made his first start for the team and did a good job in his five innings on the mound. He gave up just three runs on five hits while striking out two, but the five walks boosted his pitch count.

In the seventh inning, Melky Cabrera tied the game up with a home run of his own off of Mariners reliever Mayckol Guaipe, who was just recalled Sunday morning in favor of Mike Montgomery.

Then in the eighth, Seattle reclaimed the lead, as Kyle Seager singled home Austin Jackson to take a 5-4 lead. Seager and Jackson were the catalysts of the Mariners offense Sunday, both tallying three hits. Seager was 3-6 with three RBI and finished a triple short of the cycle while Jackson was 3-6 with two RBI and finished a double short of the cycle.

In the ninth inning, Seattle was looking like they were going to get out of the South Side of Chicago with a series win, but an error by Brad Miller with two outs forced in a run as the ball went out of play and that sent the game to extras tied at five.

The tenth inning went by without a real threat, but in the eleventh with two outs, Tyler Saladino singled to right field for the walk off as the White Sox were able to fight back and salvage a series split against the Mariners.

After the weekend split, the White Sox head to Minnesota to face the Twins starting Tuesday with Chris Sale taking the hill for Chicago. As for the Mariners, they head to Houston and will face the Astros on Monday with Vidal Nuno taking the hill in place of Felix Hernandez as manager Lloyd McClendon wants to give his ace a little bit of extra rest.
