The Major League Baseball has suspended Cincinnati Reds outfield prospect Juan Duran for 80 games following a positive test for Drostanolone, Stanozolol and Nadrolone.

"The organization does not condone in any way the use of drugs prohibited under the policy," the Reds said in a statement.

Duran hit the disabled list at the minor league level in August of 2014 due to a hairline fracture in his right arm, which caused torn ligaments. The injury caused him to miss the rest of the season. On July 1, 2015, Duran joined Double-A Pensacola. After his return to the Southern League, the outfielder hit .256/.290/.438 with six home runs and 43 RBI across 59 games.

Through eight minor-league seasons, the native of the Dominican Republic has taken 2,276 at-bats in 627 games, which Duran has hit .243 with 108 doubles, 22 triples, 80 home runs and 353 RBI.

The 24-year-old is on the 40-man roster of the Reds, but has not got his major league chance and will obviously have to wait a little longer for any opportunity. At one point, he was climbing closer and closer to the majors, but his cocktail of drugs have pushed him far back on the ladder to the big leagues.

Duran is the first player penalized under the major league program since September 12, 2015. On that date Stanley Cody, a catcher in the St. Louis Cardinals organization, was busted for performance-enhancing drugs.
