Per a BILD report, Julian Green has decided to turn up for the USA men's national team. He, at least, will be training with the national team ahead of their match against Ukraine on March 2.

Julian Green has the speed, athleticism, and technical ability (which includes finishing and positioning) to be a major factor in the World Cup for the USA national team. He has yet to make his Bundesliga debut for the senior side, but his finishing ability, and his strike rate overall with the U-21 side (FC Bayern II) speaks volumes for his future.

Green previously made one appearance for the USA at the U-18, and had previously been courted by Jurgen Klinsmann, but previously declined citing an unreadiness to file a one-time switch , and continued to appear with Germany's U-19 national side.

If Green files his one-time switch, he joins a crowded USA forward corps with plenty of supremely talented forwards in Juan Agudelo, Jozy Altidore, Aron Johannson, Terence Boyd, and Clint Dempsey who have the 1v1 abilitiy and movement to draw defenders to them. Of these, Julian Green can do this not only centrally, but out wide where the United States has suffered from a lack of width at times.

The width Green adds to the attack will only open up more space for Johannson, Agudelo, Altidore, Dempsey, and Landon Donovan, and it would allow attacking midfielders Benny Feilhaber, Joe Benny Corona, or Mix Diskerud acres of space to shoot or play final balls into the other players. (By width, it includes Green's finishing ability from out wide which could make keepers and defenders worry about a shot from out wide, as well as 1v1 runs and crosses of all heights played into and around the penalty area).

But even with that ability, Green is just one member of the USA's strike corps and will have to earn his way onto the team. It will also be up to coach Jurgen Klinsmann to select athletic, technical outside backs in Chris Klute, DeAndre Yedlin, Edgar Castillo, and Andrew Farrell to support Green, Agudelo, and others, to regularly feature multiple playmaking attacking midfielders in Joe Benny Corona, Benny Feilhaber, and Mix Diskerud, and box to box midfielders (Benji Joya) who can link up from Michael Bradley and the center backs--potentially some combination of Geoff Cameron, Andrew Farrell, John Brooks, Michael Orozco, and Shane O'Neill--who can support everyone in attack and be quick enough and positionally and technically savvy enough to cover them if they get beat.
