Kentucky Motor Speedway was the venue for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series'. Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Busch went to victory lane on Thursday night in the Camping World Truck Series, in the second tier Nationwide Series Kevin Harvick who is also a Sprint Cup Series driver took the win and in the top tier Sprint Cup Series driver Brad Keselowski went to victory lane after a dominant display at the 1.5 mile track.

Camping World Truck Series Recap:

What happened Thursday night in the Camping World Truck Series was not a surprise to anyone as there were two Sprint Cup Series regulars in the third tier of NASCAR.

A Sprint Cup Series regular started on the pole. That regular was Kyle Busch and although his team mate Darrell Wallace Jr started beside him and even led a few of the opening laps, Busch took the lead back after about 10 laps. After that, nobody could hold a candle up to the driver they call Rowdy as he was dominant for most of the race.

The other Sprint Cup Series regular in the race, Brad Keselowski, thought he had a chance to win the race. This idea was put to rest however, when Keselowski left pit road with a wrench still in his truck during a chassis adjustment. Keselowski would end up finishing 5th.

Current Truck Series point leader Johnny Sauter finished in the ninth spot. He leads his team mate Matt Crafton by eight points as Crafton finished sixth on Thursday night. By Steven Patrick.

Nationwide Series Recap:

Kevin Harvick stole victory away from Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch in a thrilling race in the John R. Elliott HERO 300 Nationwide Series race in Kentucky.
Harvick, who won the first Nationwide race at the Kentucky Speedway in 2001, was barely a contender for most of the evening but took advantage of several late yellow flags to make a late pass on Busch and storm to victory.

Keselowski dominated the race from the get-go and it looked like he would ease to victory as he led for the first 138 laps, which were relatively incident-free, but after incurring a speeding penalty just 10 laps later, he dropped down the field wasn’t quite able to recover enough.

After that penalty, it looked like it would be Busch's to lose as he looked comfortable holding off Harvick, Paul Menard and Ryan Blaney for nearly 38 laps.
But Keselowski was quickly making his way up the field once again, and after climbing eight places in just five laps earlier on, he utilised the restarts extremely well to be back in contention by the final yellow flag on lap 192, caused by an incident involving Trevor Bayne and Chase Elliott.

The green flag was waved with just five laps left, giving Harvick the chance to make a superb pass on Busch to take the lead which he never rescinded, whilst Keselowski also overtook Busch to steal second.

Menard and Blaney rounded out the top five, with Elliott Sadler finishing tenth to lead the Series by four points over Elliott, with Regan Smith just eight points back. By Oliver Lines.

Sprint Cup Series Recap:

Saturday night saw utter dominance by Brad Keselowski, who led 199 of the 267 laps, a little over 75% of the laps ran were led by Keselowski, who also took home the checkered flag with ease.

The race only saw two different leaders not named Brad Keselowski. Keselowski's team mate Joey Logano managed to get up front several times by beating Keselowski off of pit road under caution. Late in the race, Logano lost a cylinder which would cause the 22 car to fall back to finish in the 9th spot. Kyle Busch also saw a few laps up front by pitting before a caution coming out.

The rest of the field would come down pit road, which would give Busch the lead. Keselowski though would take the lead from Busch with 18 laps to go, and then set sail to the checkered. Busch would finish runner up to Keselowski.

Sprint Cup points leader Jeff Gordon is maintaining a 24 point lead over his two Hendricks Motorsports team mates Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr, who are tied for second in points. Johnson finished 10th om Saturday night, while Earnhardt Jr came home in the 5th spot.

The rise of Joe Gibbs Racing is slowly beginning. Kyle Busch finished second, and Matt Kenseth took 4th. Denny Hamlin looked to have a strong car, but finished 42nd due to a blown right front tire on lap 29, one lap away from a competition caution. By Steven Patrick.
