To fill in their backup point guard void, the Golden State Warriors have reached an agreement with Brooklyn’s Shaun Livingston. Livingston’s deal will be for the full mid-level exception of three-years, $16 million. The final year of his contract is partially guaranteed according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

The Brooklyn Nets knew that this was bound to happen because they were only able to offer Livingston a three-year, $10 million deal since they are well over the luxury tax. The Warriors were in dire need of a backup point guard, and Livingston would provide great size and versatility off the bench.

The Warriors have also been interested in costless agents Spencer Hawes and Channing Frye, but they put that aside to pursue a backup guard instead. The San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, Charlotte Hornets, Orlando Magic, and Sacramento Kings had interest in the 6’6” guard as well.

Shaun Livingston revived his career with the Brooklyn Nets after his horrid leg injury years ago. In 76 games last season, Livingston averaged 8.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He also earned 54 starts.
