The New Orleans Pelicans lost their best three-point shooter, Anthony Morrow, to the Oklahoma City Thunder last week and needed a replacement. They reached out to Jimmer Fredette and landed a deal with the 25-year old out of Brigham Young University on Thursday night.
Jimmer Fredette agrees on a one-year deal with the Pelicans, reports ESPN’s Marc Stein. Fredette’s deal will be for the veteran’s minimum.
Fredette figures to play a larger role with the Pelicans since they want him to fill in Anthony Morrow’s shoes.
Fredette has been in the league for three years averaging 6.9 points and 1.5 assists per game. Fredette has shot 40.1 percent from downtown throughout his career. He was most recently with the Chicago Bulls, where he played a total of eight games.
In addition to Fredette, the New Orleans Pelicans have also re-signed Darius Miller. In two seasons with the Pelicans, he has averaged 3.3 points and 1.3 rebounds. The terms to Miller’s contract have not been disclosed.
