Omri Casspi is finalizing a one-year, veteran's minimum deal with the Sacramento Kings, reports ESPN’s Marc Stein.

Casspi was waived by the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday, and he went unclaimed as he cleared waivers on Friday afternoon, with the expectancy to re-join the Kings.

Casspi was drafted 23rd overall by the Sacramento Kings in 2009. He played two seasons for Sacramento, and he averaged career-highs in his rookie season. After being waived by the Pelicans, the Kings and Casspi had mutual interest to reunite.

Omri Casspi played for the Houston Rockets last season, where he averaged 6.9 points and 3.7 rebounds. He was included in the Omer Asik deal with New Orleans, where he was almost immediately waived.

Since the Kings did not claim Casspi when he was on the waiver wire and instead signed him after he cleared waivers, they can now keep Quincy Acy and avoid going over the luxury tax, according to Stein.

Omri Casspi will join the crowded frontcourt of the Kings, which includes seven other forwards – Rudy Gay, Derrick Williams, Travis Outlaw, Jason Thompson, Reggie Evans, Quincy Acy, and Carl Landry.
