Argentina defeated Puerto Rico 98-75 in the group stages of the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain.

The game was never competitive as Puerto Rico was outscored by Argentina in 3 out of 4 quarters. Argentina held Puerto Rico to just 11 points in the third quarter which helped them seal the victory. Argentina scored at least 20 points in every quarter except the 2nd.

Indian Pacers power forward Luis Scola led Argentina with 20 points, while Selem Safar and former Philadelphia 76er Andres Nocioni each added 18.

Minnesota Timberwolves point guard J.J. Barea led the way for Puerto Rico with 24, while former New York Knick Renaldo Balkman contributed with 10 points.

Puerto Rico shot 42 percent from the field and just 35 percent from three-point range. Puerto Rico managed to shoot 75 percent from the costless throw line, but that alone was not enough to win the game.

Argentina, coached by Julio Lamas, shot 62 percent from the field and 37 percent from three. Argentina's impressive shooting is what edged the Puerto Ricans. Argentina also shot 69 percent from the costless throw line.

Puerto Rico will look to come back tommorow, August 31st, versus Senegal at 11:30 am Eastern Time.

Argentina will look to win again as they play Croatia tomorrow at 7:30 am Eastern Time.
