Dallas Mavericks Beat The Memphis Grizzles In Vince Carter's Return To Dallas

Vince Carter made his return to Dallas to face his former team for whom he'll always be remembered for his game-winning three point shot against the San Antonio Spurs in the 2014 playoffs. The Dallas Mavericks were able to pull out a win to improve their record to 3-3 in the preseason.

After hitting one of the greatest game-winners in Dallas Mavericks history, Vince Carter returned to Dallas to face his former team for the first time. The Dallas Mavericks had seven scorers in double figures as they beat the Memphis Grizzlies 108-103.

Vince Carter only played eight minutes with only three points on 1-of-3 from the field, but his return to Dallas was still significant for fans, and Carter got to see some of his former teammates.

Mavs head Coach Rick Carlisle elected to play his starters from the get go after sitting them out in their Saturday, October 18, loss to the Indiana Pacers. Every starter scored in double figures with Tyson Chandler and Monta Ellis leading the way with 14 apiece.

Richard Jefferson scored 13 points off the bench and has really stepped into Vince Carter's role from a year ago and looks poised to be a solid sixth man. Al-Farouq Aminu had 12 points of his own and continues to impressive on the defensive end of the floor and provides a young, athletic spark off the bench.

Quincy Pondexter led the Grizzlies with 18 points off the Memphis bench on 6-of-11 shooting. Marc Gasol looked every bit in midseason form with 17 points and seven boards.

The Mavericks outshot the Grizzlies as a team as well, 48.3 percent to 43.2 percent, adding a 49-43 rebounding edge while surrendering 13 giveaways to Memphis’ 12 turnovers.

The Mavericks will next go to Shreveport, Louisiana, to square off with the New Orleans Pelicans Thursday, October 23. The Grizzles return home to Memphis to face the Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday, October 22.
