Once considered as an elite scorer, Vince Carter has made a smooth transition from an All-Star to a reliable sixth man who could just shoot the lights out from downtown. The dunking days are long gone, but Carter, 37, is still capable of throwback performances as he demonstrated last playoffs, hitting a huge game-winner in Game 3 of the first-round series against the San Antonio Spurs.

2014 was a spectacular season for Carter as he helped lead the Mavericks back into the playoffs, averaging 11.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game in just 24 minutes of play. The star-studded Mavericks went toe-to-toe with the Spurs but failed to execute their plays in the late stretches as San Antonio won the series in seven games.

Earlier this July, the Grizzlies signed the aging veteran to a three-year deal worth $12 million. The Grizzlies chose to sign Carter over the sharpshooter Mike Miller as the Grizzlies look for a go-to-guy during crunch time. Carter will provide not only scoring off the bench, but also leadership as he tries to mentor the younger guys on the Grizz squad. Carter will be a vital factor for the Grizzlies' run at the Larry O'Brien trophy. Whether he wins it or not, these will be the final years of Carter's illustrious career, as he will more than likely retire in Memphis.
