The Mavericks will release forward Eric Griffin who signed a partially guaranteed deal worth $150,000. The Campbell University product has yet to appear in an NBA game after he went undrafted two years ago.

Griffin, who showed flashes of brilliance during the Summer League, caught the attention of the Mavericks. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 11.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game during his Summer League stint. Griffin seemed unlikely to make the Mavs roster, considering that the team already had 15 guaranteed contracts on their books, as well as the evident attachment to Charlie Villanueva, who is also on a partially guaranteed deal.

Once the Mavs officially waive Griffin, their roster will foreground four players with partially or non-guaranteed contracts. As the October 27th deadline draws near, it seems unlikely to see the last four making it to the Dallas Mavericks roster, unless the Mavericks make trades to open roster spots.
