Five years ago, the Phoenix Suns were dubbed as one of the most exciting teams in the league and immediately captured the wide imagination of fans all over the world with their signature run-and-gun offense. With Steve Nash running the court general duties, Amar'e Stoudemire owned the paint where he posted double-doubles night in and night out. When Amare left Phoenix for New York, the Suns immediately went downhill signing a bunch of unknown role players who did not exceed the expectations of the Suns front office. Despite the stellar play of Steve Nash, the Suns went on to miss the playoffs the next three years.

On the summer of 2012, the Phoenix Suns traded their lone superstar Steve Nash to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for two first-round picks and two second-round picks. After the trade pushed through, the Suns immediately purchased Goran Dragic, signed Kansas State product Michael Beasley, and claimed Luis Scola off amnesty waivers. Despite the additions of solid role players, the Suns struggled to make it back to the postseason. The Suns waived Michael Beasley last year and traded Luis Scola in exhange for Gerald Green and Miles Plumlee.

The Suns continued their rebuilding process acquiring Alex Len and Eric Bledsoe. The Suns were in a tight playoff race along with the Dallas Mavericks and the Memphis Grizzlies last year but immediately lost two of their last three games which sent them out of playoff contention.

2015 is set to be a promising year for the up-and-coming Suns team who acquired forwards T.J. Warren, Zoran Dragic, Tyler Ennis, and Serbian Bogdan Bogdanovic, who won't join the team this season. With the addition of these guys, the Suns are slowly creeping up to the top of the West. The Suns have been collecting a lot of younger guys in the draft and costless agency in order to compete in the near future. With Dragic and Bledsoe leading the pack, the Suns are expected to fight for the last playoff spot in a tough Western Conference once again.
