Another huge blow for the Oklahoma City Thunder as they lose Anthony Morrow for 4-6 weeks with a left MCL sprain. The team has already lost Kevin Durant for 6-8 weeks with a foot fracture and with Morrow’s injury, the Thunder become very thin at the wing positions.

The Thunder signed Morrow this past offseason to a three-year, $10 million deal to add more shooting to the team. In his absence, Perry Jones and Andre Roberson should see an increase in minutes.

Morrow was playing extremely well during the preseason. He averaged 15.0 points per game on 44.8 percent shooting from downtown.

The Oklahoma City Thunder open their season against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, October 29, and will be without both Kevin Durant and Anthony Morrow in a game against a tough opponent. After that game, they play the Los Angeles Clippers, another strong opponent.

With major pieces out for the Thunder early in the season, the team may struggle and get off to a very slow start. The success of this team rests on the shoulders of Russell Westbrook now, until Durant and Morrow return. It will be interesting to see how many wins the Thunder can bottle up in the meantime.
