1st Quarter (11:34): Tony Allen starts the night for the Grizzlies with a two pointer on an offensive rebound. Boozer answers on the other end.

1st Quarter (12:00): We are underway!

10:33 P.M. EST: The Grizzlies need to win tonight to maintain the best record in the league, tied with the Toronto Raptors.

9:57 P.M. EST: The Lakers will need good ball movement, though. The ball cannot stick.

9:53 P.M. EST: When these two teams met on November 11, the Lakers showed so much effort and pride. If they play with the same intensity in this game, they would have a really good chance at winning since they are at home.

9:25 P.M. EST: The Lakers are on the verge of signing Earl Clark. They will waive Xavier Henry once they do.

9:10 P.M. EST: The Lakers will have Carlos Boozer back into the starting lineup, and Ed Davis will also play despite a sore ankle.

8:42 P.M. EST: This game Memphis Grizzlies - Los Angeles Lakers marks the first of four games on the road for the Grizzlies. They will look to begin their road trip on a high note by taking out the Lakers early to boost confidence for other three tough games they will have on the road.

8:41 P.M. EST: The Grizzlies rank fourth in the league when it comes to points in the paint. That just shows how dominant their power forward/center tandem are. The Lakers will need more resistance in the paint. They need to match the physicality.

8:40 P.M. EST: On the other side of the ball, Allen is not known as much of an offensive threat, and that's why Kobe tends to play off of him to not waste much energy. However, last time these two teams met, Allen came out with a lot of aggression to make Kobe work on the defensive side of the ball as well. You could expect the same from Allen in this one. The thing that makes Allen so great is his hustle. He is always around the rim looking to grab offensive rebounds, so Kobe will have to be aware on the defensive end.

8:39 P.M. EST: Kobe Bryant, who has shot an abysmal 38.1 percent this season, will go up against one of the best perimeter defenders in the league, Tony Allen. Allen tends to give Kobe a lot of trouble defensively, so Kobe will have to take smarter shots and cannot force the offense.

8:38 P.M. EST: How good is the Grizzlies defense? They are top 10 in opponents field goal percentage and three-point percentage, top three in points allowed, and top 10 in forcing turnovers. Additionally, they take care of the ball really well, averaging 12.6 turnovers per game, which is seventh best in the league. The Lakers are good at taking care of the ball too, turning it over only 12.3 times per game, which is sixth best. However, with a strong defense like the Grizzlies', they cannot get raddled.

8:37 P.M. EST: The Grizzlies bench has improved since the last time these two teams faced each other. Meanwhile, due to injuries, the Lakers bench has worsen since the last time these two teams played against one another. The Grizzlies bench started the season off slowly, but guys, like Vince Carter, Beno Udrih, Jon Leuer, and Kosta Koufos, have played well of late. The Lakers bench may be even thinner this game since Carlos Boozer is questionable to play, and Ed Davis is probable. In addition, Xavier Henry went down with an Achilles tear during practice on Monday.

8:36 P.M. EST: The one thing about the Grizzlies is that they do not score too much, but that's mainly because they slow games down. That's why when facing this team, the Lakers cannot lose their composure. The Grizzlies are known for their grit and grind defense. They play physical and do not back down. That's the identity they have carried for the past couple of years, and it's found them some success.

8:35 P.M. EST: The Grizzlies will be looking for a slow, defensive game where they could run their offense in the half court set. The Lakers are not really a fast breaking team, but they will need to try their best to control the pace and fasten it up just a bit.

8:34 P.M. EST: The Grizzlies will certainly look to pound the Lakers in the low post using their potent duo of Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol. Gasol is coming off a pair of 30-plus point games and has been shooting lights out. The Lakers will have to force the Grizzlies outside. To make this happen, they may need to use zone defense often times. However, the Lakers will still need to show effort on defense because the Grizzlies are an efficient three-point shooting team, and that happens because their bigs draw too much attention in the paint.

8:33 P.M. EST: The Lakers came off an overtime loss at home to the Denver Nuggets in a game where they shot 37 percent and did not have any kind of offensive flow.

8:32 P.M. EST: The Grizzlies still own the top seed in the Western Conference and are coming off an easy victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. They have one of the best defenses in the league, and that's how they get the job done.

8:31 P.M. EST: This will be the second matchup this season between these two teams. The Grizzlies won in the first matchup at home, 107-102.

8:30 P.M. EST: Welcome to VAVEL_USA's Live of the Memphis Grizzlies vs Los Angeles Lakers from the Staples Center in Downtown, Los Angeles.
