The Minnesota Timberwolves have once again put veteran swingman Corey Brewer on the trade block, according to ESPN. He was on the block earlier, but the Wolves pulled him off after Kevin Martin hurt his wrist, and Ricky Rubio got hurt. At the time, they said he was too valuable to part with but now that they are at the bottom of the Western Conference, team President Flip Saunders admitted last week that the team has transitioned into a rebuilding mode.

Houston and Cleveland seem like the most likely destinations for him, as both teams have salary cap exemptions remaining, which would be needed to pick up his $4.7 million contract for this season, as well as his $4.9 million option for next year. The Clippers also have shown interest. However, they have no cap exemptions remaining and are only $800,000 away from the cap, meaning they would need to dump $4 million in salary to get Brewer, a scenario that seems unlikely.

If he was to go to Cleveland, he would be reunited with Kevin Love, who he played with in Minnesota before Love was traded to Cleveland in August. However, Houston would keep him in the Western Conference, where he has played his whole career.

Brewer was drafted in 2007 by the Timberwolves, after winning two NCAA national championships at Florida. After that, he went to Dallas, where he won an NBA championship in 2011. Presumably, he would prefer to go to a contender to have a chance to get another championship, which is what makes Houston and Cleveland so attractive.
