Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade suffered a right hamstring strain in Miami’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks on January 27th and will definitely be out for Friday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks. There is no exact timetable for his return, but it seems it will be an extended period of time.

Wade missed Wednesday’s practice and had this to say to reporters, “I won’t be seeing you for a little while.” This isn’t the first time this season Wade has missed time for a hamstring injury. Earlier this season he missed two games with a right hamstring tweak, and another seven games with a left hamstring strain.

This is what Wade had to say about the injury, “Frustrated. As far as where I stand, I have no idea at all. You can’t put a time on it. You have to go day by day.”

Teammate Chris Bosh had this to say about the situation, “It really sucks sometimes, but what can you do? We haven’t had our whole team. I just want to play with our whole team, just once. But it’s not going to be for Friday, maybe not for the next couple of weeks, but there is nothing we can do about that.”

Joseph Goodman of the Miami Herald said the best case scenario for Wade’s return would be two to three weeks, meaning he would miss the All-Star game, if he is to be selected as a reserve, which will be determined tonight.

It’s been a rough season for the Miami Heat as they are 20-25 and are currently in the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference. Even in the weak East, Miami isn’t safe, as the Charlotte Hornets, Brooklyn Nets, and Boston Celtics are right behind them. If Wade misses a significant amount of time, it might be too late when he returns, as the Heat haven’t been good even when he’s been playing.

Wade has carried the load this year, averaging 21.4 points and 5.4 assists on 48 percent shooting. The 10-time All-Star is also ranked 12th in player efficiency rating (PER) at 22.5. With all the injuries to this team, they haven’t played fully assembled which is tough for a team that experienced drastic roster turnover, the best player in the world LeBron James.
