Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti announced Friday afternoon that Kevin Durant will miss the rest of the season due to another surgery on his right foot. Durant will be undergoing a bone graft surgery on that ailing foot, his third surgery on that injured right foot this season.

The surgery will take place early next week, and is expected to resume basketball activities in about four to six months.

Durant had a screw placed in his right foot back in October to repair a Jones fracture. After consistent discomfort and soreness in that right foot Durant had another procedure in late-February to try and alleviate the pain. After that operation Durant was evaluated and re-evaluated week-to-week, but never seem to come to an exact timetable on his return to the court. Last week, after countless push back on his return date, was removed from basketball activities as the foot discomfort never improved enough.

The Oklahoma City Thunder holds on to the eighth-seed in the Western Conference, and currently has a three-game lead over the Phoenix Suns who occupy the ninth-seed. The Thunder has 10 games remaining in the regular season and if the season ended today they would face the best team in the league in the Golden State Warriors.

Kevin Durant, the league’s reigning MVP, has played in 27-of-72 regular season games and has averaged 25.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists. Durant also tied a career-high shooting 51 percent from the field, and shot a very nice 40.3 percent from behind the arc.
