CLEVELAND, OH -- The Cavaliers have re-upped with Iman Shumpert on a four-year, $40 million deal.

Shumpert came over to Cleveland in a trade from the New York Knicks last season, in an exchange that sent Shumpert, J.R. Smith, and an unprotected first-round draft pick to the Cavaliers, Dion Waiters to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Lou Amundson, Alex Kirk, Lance Thomas, and a second-round pick to New York.

Since joining the roster of coach David Blatt in January of 2015, Shumpert played in 38 regular-season games for Cleveland, starting one. In 24.2 minutes per game, the man with the NBA's best hair averaged 7.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per contest, shooting at a solid clip of 41% from the field.

The 6'5", 25 year-old shooting guard from the state of Illinois became a very significant part of the Cavaliers rotation during the 2015 NBA Playoffs. Shumpert started 16 of the 20 games in which Cleveland participated, and had a minutes increase to a whopping 34.8 minutes per game. His shooting dipped to 36%, but his averages rose to 9.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, while his assists went down a smidge to 1.3 APG.

The Cavaliers were unable to finish their first run with Blatt, LeBron James, and Kevin Love on the roster, losing to the Golden State Warriors 4-2 in the NBA Finals. Love has already signed a new 5-year, $110 million deal after opting out of his current contract. James opted out of his own deal, but has yet to come to a new agreement with GM David Griffin despite committing to re-sign with Cleveland. Tristan Thompson also inked a new contract with Griffin and the Cavs.

Shumpert was drafted 17th overall by the Knicks in the 2011 NBA Draft. After making two playoff trips with New York, he is now poised to develop his career as a member of the star-studded Cleveland Cavaliers organization.
