If at first you don’t succeed, try again.

After an unsuccessful first meeting with Aldridge, in which he disliked the basketball part of the presentation, the Los Angeles Lakers will get another opportunity to try and tempt the four-time All-Star.

Many were pointing fingers at Kobe Bryant as the reason why the first meeting failed. He reportedly talked only three minutes of the two-plus hour meeting. Bryant told Aldridge he envisioned the two working the same way he and Pau Gasol did during the Lakers’ championship runs. However, Aldridge felt that he did not gel with Kobe, didn’t get the answers he was hoping for from Bryant, according to Mike Bresnahan of the L.A. Times.

This second meeting will be held in Los Angeles again, and according to Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports, Byron Scott and Mitch Kupchak will be the only two to attend the meeting to talk only about basketball, which is exactly what Aldridge likes to hear.

In addition to meeting the Lakers for the second time, Aldridge will attend a meeting in L.A. with Pat Riley and the Miami Heat as well. The Heat is the latest team to register interest in the 29-year old but would need to complete a sign-and-trade to acquire him. Furthermore, Aldridge has cancelled his meeting with Phil Jackson and the New York Knicks.

The San Antonio Spurs and Phoenix Suns are considered as the two frontrunners. The Suns have been actively clearing cap room to potentially acquire Aldridge, while the Spurs have been doing the same by trading Tiago Splitter and allowing Aron Baynes to walk.

The Portland Trail Blazers shouldn’t be ruled out of the Aldridge sweepstakes just yet. They still have the chance to re-sign their long-time power forward and have been completing moves to bolster their roster to entice Aldridge.

Of course the Blazers could offer Aldridge the most money and longest contract, but he is looking to go to a team where his chance of winning a championship in the near future is at its highest.

LaMarcus Aldridge has turned out to be a highly-prized free agent this off season, as he has drawn interest from many teams. Where will he land? Stay tuned.
