The Cleveland Cavaliers reached out to free agent 6-foot-5 guard Rodney Stuckey and have shown interest in him. Stuckey started 36 games and played 35 games off the bench for the Indiana Pacers last season and averaged 12.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists a game.

Stuckey also shot a season-best 39 percent from three-point range. He shot 12 percent better from three-point range this past year than he did the year before. The 29-year-old veteran from Eastern Washington University has played seven seasons with the Detroit Pistons and one season with the Indiana Pacers.

Rodney Stuckey made $1.2 million last year with the Indiana Pacers. The Cavaliers only have the tax payer mid-level exception that pays approximately $3.4 millon. Stuckey can get a bigger contract from other teams, but he is willing to listen to former Eastern Conference champions in the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Other teams Stuckey is interesting in playing for is the Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Sacramento Kings, and the Indiana Pacers. If the Cavaliers were to aquire him in free agency, it would be an upgrade at the backup point guard position, and he could also play well alongside Kyrie Irving in the backcourt.

Stuckey would be a good replacement for J.R. Smith if Cavaliers were not to bring him back next season. The Cavaliers are, of course, working on re-signing other free agents such as LeBron James, Tristan Thompson, Matthew Delavedova, and J.R. Smith. The Cavaliers have also shown interest in point guard Mo Williams, but he is reportedly closing in on a deal with the Memphis Grizzlies.

It could really be a great opportunity for Rodney Stuckey to play on a successful team in Cleveland, as he has not played in a playoff game since the 2008-2009 NBA season for the Detroit Pistons. Stuckey could also add more play making and ball handling if needed.
