MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- The Timberwolves have announced that they have signed their two first-round draft picks, Karl-Anthony Towns and Tyus Jones.

Towns' contract is for three-years and worth just over $14.9 million. According to RealGM.com, the deal also includes a fourth-year option. Even though this signing was expected considering Towns was the first overall pick, it is still important for the Timberwolves to follow through and sign him.

Towns is expected to come in and have a huge impact for a Timberwolves' team that is young and on the rise. Paired with Andrew Wiggins, they finally have two players with whom they can start to build around in order to contend for the playoffs in the the tough Western Conference.

Kevin Garnett has announced that he will be returning to Minnesota for his 21st NBA season. The 39-year old veteran will be key in mentoring Towns on how to be a professional on and off the court. Garnett is considered as being one of the best power forwards to ever play, he will be perfect in helping the development of Towns' game.

Former Duke point guard Tyus Jones has also been signed by the Timberwolves. The specifics of the contract have not been announced yet.

Jones was selected with the 24th overall pick in the draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers before being traded to the Timberwolves. He will have the opportunity to play back up to Ricky Rubio and coming off the bench to provide a spark.

Jones averaged 11.8 points, 5.6 assists, and 3.5 rebounds as he helped lead Duke to a National Championship in last year's NCAA Tournament.

The Timberwolves have a very young and talented roster with the additions of Towns and Jones. Alongside of last year's Rookie of the Year award winner Andrew Wiggins, next season will be the start of the Timberwolves battle back to relevancy.
