Derrick Rose spoke recently on the lawsuit that is being placed against him. The file was from a recent ex-girlfriend who dated Rose from 2011 to 2013, and claims the incident occurred in August of 2013.

"I am just focusing on staying healthy and getting ready for the season," Rose said in a statement. "I am not going to comment other than to say: I know the truth, and am confident I will be proven innocent."

Although it is a bit weird that almost exactly two years later, the accuser decided to go public, they did offer a bit of a description of when this accusation occurred.

"The incident occurred in the early morning of Aug. 27, 2013. The plaintiff had visited the defendant's residence the night of Aug. 26, 2013, and returned to her residence in the early morning of Aug. 27, 2013," attorney Brandon J. Anand said.

The weird thing about the accusation is that no prison time or punishment is being asked for by the accuser, just money. Now, this doesn't mean that the claim is untrue, but it does make the situation a bit odd.

Rose's spokesperson Lisa Cohen mentioned that the relationship was consensual.

"We have complete confidence that the case will be dismissed," Cohen said.

We don't and may not know what happened or the ruling for a while, but nonetheless, it does create another distraction for Derrick Rose. Rose already has distractions regarding his past with injuries, as well as expectations heading into this upcoming season. The Bulls are in a spot, especially with Rose, that they need to start winning soon. They've got a lot of unknowns attached to them and it's about time to start making progress.
