Missouri freshmen Jakeenan Gant and D'Angelo Allen have been suspended from all basketball activities after being arrested for their alleged roles in an assault, the school announced on Tuesday.

New Tigers basketball coach Kim Anderson made the announcement.

"We are aware of the situation involving Jakeenan Gant and D’Angelo Allen and have suspended them from team-related activities as we gather more information. We have high standards for the conduct of our student-athletes and expect much more from them as members of our program," Anderson said in a statement released Tuesday night.

Police reports indicate that Gant and Allen, along with one or two other men, were involved in an assault of three victims early Sunday morning. One of the alleged victims found Gant’s wallet at the scene which lead police to arresting Gant, Allen, and another suspect, Michael James Martin, according to the Columbia Daily Tribune. Both of the players were released with charges pending.

Both Gant and Allen could be charged with third-degree assault, which is a Class A misdemeanor that could result in a year-long prison sentence and a fine.

Gant is a top recruit to Missouri who honored his commitment with the Tigers even after then coach Frank Haith left the school for Tulsa. Allen was the first player signed by Anderson after he took over in Columbia in April.
