Louisville fans have received more great news this week. It was announced that the Cardinals will be participating in the 2016 Battle 4 Atlantis. Louisville last appeared in this event in 2012, the same season they won the national title.

The rest of the field has yet to be announced but it’s expected to be loaded once again. Last year the likes of North Carolina, Wisconsin, Butler, UCLA, Florida, Oklahoma, and Georgetown participated. In 2012 the Cardinals advanced to the title game to play the Duke Blue Devils. Center Gorgui Dieng was injured the game before, but the Blue Devils defeated the Cardinals to claim the crown. Louisville had their revenge in the Elite 8 against Duke. The Cardinals ended up pounding the Blue Devils to advance to the Final Four and another national title.

Louisville should be a top-10 team heading into the 2016-2017 season, because they will more than likely lose only two players from this year’s team. The addition of five-star V.J King, also helps the Cardinals chances to capture the title in the Battle 4 Atlantis in 2016. Expect the rest of the field to be equally as talented.

The Battle 4 Atlantis has always been a college basketball powerhouse showcase. Louisville is the first team revealed in the pool, expect the other teams to be announced soon. Let’s just enjoy this upcoming season first, before the 2016 season is really discussed.
