According to a report by 247sports.com, incoming freshman running back Jordan Stevenson was denied admission to the University of Wisconsin.

The four-star prospect from Dallas, who ranks No. 17 among all running backs in the class of 2015 according to 247Sports, was arguably one of the Badgers’ top recruits for the upcoming season.

“#Badgernation Thanks for all the love also all the support through all I have been through much love,” Stevenson tweeted.

“With all do respect My recruitment is Official open to any Division One program for the 2015 season….”

Stevenson received his release from UW on Friday morning after speaking with head coach Paul Chryst and running backs coach John Settle on Thursday.

It is no secret that Wisconsin holds high admission standards and that is one of the primary reasons Gary Andersen bolted from the university to take the head coaching job at Oregon State several days after the Big Ten title game.

"It's been well [documented] there were some kids I couldn't get in school," the Badgers' former coach said. "That was highly frustrating to me. I lost some guys, and I told them I wasn't going to lose them.

"I think they did what they were supposed to do [academically] and they still couldn't get in. That was really hard to deal with."

Stevenson had originally committed to Texas before switching to Wisconsin. He had visited Oklahoma State, and also fielded offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Louisville, Ohio State, UCLA, among several others.

Stevenson rushed for 2,530 yards and 28 touchdowns as a senior at South Oak Cliff High. He was expected to compete for some playing time this season behind starting running back Corey Clement.

The Badgers now have just one running back enrolled with the 2015 recruiting class, Hoover (Ala.) High running back Bradrick Shaw.

The Badgers have had nine players reportedly denied admission in the past four years including two others in the 2015 class: offensive tackle Sam Madden (signed with Georgia) and linebacker Mohamed Berry (signed with Nebraska).
