After three consecutive AFC West Division titles and a trip to the 2014 Super Bowl, the Broncos have rewarded Head Coach John Fox with a new contract extension. The Denver Broncos have voided the remaining year on head coach John Fox's contract and replaced it with a new three year deal worth somewhere between 5 and 6 million dollars per year. The voided contract had the Broncos paying Fox approximately $3.5 million per year, so the Head Coach gets a nice raise to go with his team's success. It took longer than expected for this deal to be finalized, but General Manger John Elway can check one of his top priorities off his to-do list.

When Fox was hired by Elway to replace Josh McDaniels in 2011, he inherited a team that was coming off a terrible year (2-14 and a last place finish in the AFC West). On top of the poor record, the team and fan base alike were fragile, psychologically. Under Fox's leadership the Broncos responded with a 2011 season to remember. With a quarterback not known for his throwing prowess in Tim Tebow at the helm of the offense, it was a stout defense that lead the team to not only a division title, but also a wild card playoff victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in an overtime thriller. The next two years saw Peyton Manning at quarterback and the Broncos posted identical 13-3 records whcih earned them home field advantage in the playoffs. Unfortunately, both years ended in disappointment as the Broncos would fail to capture the Vince Lombardi Trophy, the stated goal by everyone within the Broncos' Dove Valley headquarters.

The Broncos made some changes this off-season adding a group of Pro Bowl talent on the defense through costless agency; DE Demarcus Ware, S TJ Ward, and CB Aqib Talib, and the expectations have never been higher for Fox and the Broncos. With Manning down to just a few remaining years left, owner Pat Bowlen and GM John Elway have given Fox all the tools necessary for another run at the Super Bowl.
