6:36PM EST: The Saints secondary has been in shambles, because new costless agents, Jarius Byrd and Champ Bailey missed most of training camp. Last year's breakout corner, Keenan Lewis, left last week's preseason game early with an injury. The Saints are hoping to get both Bailey and Byrd on the field for tonight's game, even if only in limited roles.
6:35 PM EST: The Colts starting defense has been excellent thus far, allowing 0 points to opposing starters. Bjoern Werner has been fantastic at LB in his 2nd year. D'Qwell Jackson registered a sack on a big third down last week vs Eli Manning. Both Arthur Jones and Josh Chapman have been stout against the run up front. Tonight, Colts fans are hoping to see more of CB Vontae Davis and SS LaRon Landry, who were sidelined for long periods of training camp.
6:34 PM EST: Offensively, the Saints have not been at full strength this preseason, as Drew Brees has yet to play. But that changes tonight, as he is expected to play the first half. Rookie WR Brandin Cooks has impressed many in training camp and preseason to this point, and Pierre Thomas, Mark Ingram, and Khiry Robinson are expected to get a lot of carries tonight in the Saints backfield.
6:33 PM EST: The Colts have struggled mightily running the football yet again, with Trent Richardson averaging just 2.4 ypc in the preseason. However, the Colts offense has soared in the air, led by Hakeem Nicks, Donte Moncrief, Griff Whalen, and Da'rick Rogers, who have all had excellent preseasons. Tonight, it remains to be seen if Reggie Wayne plays, as he has been sidelined due to precaution after tearing his ACL last October. Thus far, the Colts starters have only played 4 series, so expect extensive work tonight
6:32 PM EST: The Saints enter this game having won both of their preseason games, despite not having Drew Brees for either game. They defeated the Rams 26-24 in week 1, and the Titans 31-24 last week. Brees is set to make his debut tonight.
6:31 PM EST: The Colts enter this game having lost both of their preseason games, despite holding leads in both when the starters left the game. In game number 1, they lost 13-10 to the Jets. Last week, the Giants scored 27 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to defeat the Colts 27-26. Colts punter Pat McAfee missed what would have been a game winning 64 yard FG as time expired.
