The Detroit Lions (2-1) defeated the Green Bay Packers (1-2) on Sunday using their defense rather than their offense.

To begin the game, Detroit was able to get a 40 yard fumble return from Don Carey and then a safety from DeAndre Levy. The defense only allowed Packers' quarterback Aaron Rogers to throw for one touchdown.

The offense was led by the trio of Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush. They all chipped into the offensive effort to give their team the 19-7 win. Stafford went 22 for 34, to give him 246 yards, however, he did not throw a touchdown. He threw to interceptions. Johnson was once again his top receiver. He caught the ball six times for 82 yards. He averaged 13.7 yards per grab. The run game finally showed improvement. Bush was able to carry the ball 12 times and led the team with 61 rushing yards. He added a 26 yard touchdown run to give the Lions a two score lead late in the game.

The offense for the Packers was silent, especially the run game. First off, Rodgers went 16 for 27, 162 yards and a touchdown. He just did not pass the ball enough. The rushing was absolutely horrid. Eddie Lacy ran the ball 11 times for only 36 yards. To add to his rough game, he fumbled the ball very early. James Starks also ran the ball multiple times for the losing side. He moved the ball eight times for 38 yards. Lacy and Starks showed that without the run game being effective, they struggle. Jordy Nelson led the team as far as receiving goes. He received the ball five times for 59 yards.
