Jay Glazer of Fox Sports first reported that Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen has been fired. Allen has led the Raiders to a 0-4 record in 2014 and in two plus seasons has an overall record of 8-28. That comes out to a .222 winning percentage.

It’s usually too early to fire a coach after four games but it was no surprise that Allen was fired. Reports suggest that Greg Olson would be the interim coach. No matter who is taking over it’s smart for the Raiders to do it now as they are heading into a bye week and it gives whoever is the interim coach a chance to game plan in his new position.

In just four games this season, the Raiders already have a minus-52 point differential, only Jacksonville has it worse at minus -94. Allen never seemed to be the long-term answer and the team continued to be unresponsive this year under the 42-year-old, former defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos.

Because of the his tenure in Oakland, it seems Allen won’t be a head coach anytime soon, but it won’t be long until somebody gives him a shot as their defensive coordinator.
