Last week's result in St. Louis was shocking to say the least, especially to the Denver Broncos. However, now they will travel to take on another AFC West opponent in the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers got some players back after their bye week in time to play the Oakland Raiders.
Then, on Thursday night, the Oakland Raiders surprised all fans especially fans of the Chargers, by knocking off the 2nd place Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 24-20. This will now mean that if the Chargers can win against the Rams, they will retake second place in the AFC West and also potentially gain themselves a wild card spot heading into December.
Fans of the Chargers will remember that they made a run for the same AFC wild card spot last season by winning the final four games of their season. With the final games coming up in the Chargers schedule though, they have one remaining game against Denver and one against Kansas City, as well as two that could potentially have an effect on the wild card seeding. Those two games would be against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium, and also against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots on Sunday Night football.
The only advantage they would potentially have is if Brady's road record isn't as good and having the San Diego home crowd, they could squeak out a win. The game against Baltimore, if they win, would also serve as the tie-breaker in the event that Baltimore and San Diego have the same record at the end of the regular season. So, it is really important that the Chargers win as many as they can in the rest of the season.
