The New York Jets have been rotating through several quarterbacks and seemingly unable to find one accurate passer for the last few years. The list of starting quarterbacks include second rounder Geno Smith, Michael Vick, first round pick Mark Sanchez, Greg McElroy, Kellen Clemens, Brett Favre, Chad Pennington, Brooks Bollinger, and Vinny Testaverde in the last 10 years.

Obviously the New York Jets have had issues in identifying the proper talent and overpaying on the wrong guys to bring in to start for their team. They even mishandled having Brett Favre before cutting him and the Minnesota Vikings signing him that off-season and leading them to the NFC Championship game.

This is why when they are traveling to Eugene, Oregon for a Saturday workout for the Hawaiian Heisman Winning Quarterback Marcus Mariota, they have to be very careful in figuring out exactly what they are looking for. Is Mariota someone they would consider drafting at #6 overall if he is still on the board? Would the Jets brass trade up to #2 with Tennessee, giving up either a second or third this year if not future first round picks as well? It has been reported from ESPN that Marcus Mariota will conduct on field drills and has a classroom session during this meeting.

One thing is for certain, Marcus Mariota is going to be taken in the 2015 NFL Draft, and most NFL analysts consider him to be the second quarterback taken, since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are likely to draft Jameis Winston with the top pick in the draft. The main question is where Marcus Mariota will be drafted, and be sure to follow all of the NFL draft talk here at VAVEL USA up to start of the NFL Draft on April 30.
