KANSAS CITY -- Jamaal Charles is feared to be out for the remainder of the 2015 NFL season after exiting the third quarter of the Kansas City Chiefs' home game against the Chicago Bears with a leg injury. Coach Andy Reid said after the game that it is most likely a torn ACL.

Charles' knee appeared to buckle while the halfback made a cut on a non-contact play against the Bears. He went to the ground, grabbing his right knee in pain prior to being assisted off the field.

The evaluation of the injury is based on preliminary tests and reports taken directly after the game. Charles' status will be much more clear to the Chiefs and the football world once the 28 year-old undergoes his MRI.

Before leaving the game, Charles had rushed for 58 yards on twelve carries. He also had hauled in an exquisite 26-yard reception on which he made a stunning stop-and-start juke to evade an oncoming defender.

Charles was near the top of the league with 364 yards and four scores on the ground antecedent to undergoing his unfortunate ailment. He also had 177 yards receiving that added an additional fifth touchdown to his season stat line.

Since being drafted in 2008, Charles has played at least 15 of 16 regular season games all but once, in 2011, when he underwent his first torn ACL just two games into the season for the Chiefs.

The four-time Pro Bowler and all-time leader in career yards per carry has made the First-team All-Pro twice in his career, and his role will be patched up by the duo of Knile Davis and Charcandrick West.

Davis, who was out with an injury of his own for the last two weeks, helped the Chiefs' efforts against Chicago, but Kansas City was not enough to escape a late 18-17 defeat at the hands of a Matt Forte touchdown reception with 23 ticks left on the game clock.
