Earlier today the Western New York Flash announced that they will be hosting the Thailand Women’s National Team in a friendly on Saturday, September 17, 2016. The match will take place at the Demske Sports Complex located at Canisius College and is set to kick off at 7 pm Eastern Time.

Good experience for Flash

With a bye week due to a league wide break in the National Women’s Soccer League, the Flash found it to be the perfect opportunity to get an extra match in for experience. Later this week, Western New York midfielder Samantha Mewis will face Thailand in a friendly with the United States Women’s National Team. Mewis was called up along with 20 other players - 19 of which also play in the NWSL - to partake in the first post-Olympic match for the USWNT on September 15 in Columbus, Ohio.

This is the first time that Thailand and the United States will face off in the history of women’s soccer. It will also be the first time that they will play an NWSL club, a great chance to help grow the game of women’s soccer.

"This is a great opportunity for us to bring an international game to western New York,"  the General Manager of the Flash, Rich Randall, told media.  "It will be exciting for fans to see the Flash play Thailand two days after they take on the U.S. national team during a NWSL bye week."

Ticket details

There will only be 1,200 tickets available for the Flash’s friendly, and they are all $10 each. Tickets are available on the Western New York Flash’s website and will be available for pick up at Will Call on Saturday. Before the friendly, the Flash continue to fight for a playoff spot Sunday, September 11 as they travel to face the Portland Thorns. Kick off is at 9:30 pm ET and will be broadcasted on Fox Sports 1.
