Seven players were selected in Wednesday’s Chivas USA Dispersal Draft held via conference call. It was not a surprise to see so few players selected but that is not to say that these players are not talented. Most of the player not selected will take part in the other mechanisms for player acquisition during the off-season whether that be the Re-Entry Draft or the Waiver Draft.

Here are the final results of the Dispersal Draft with some notes about the players selected:

1.             FC Dallas selects Dan Kennedy

Dan Kennedy was the player that most agreed would be selected either first or second in this draft. Kennedy is a veteran goalkeeper who had played with Chivas USA since 2008 making 144 appearances. During that time, he finished with a career record of 36 wins, 35 draws, and 71 losses. His career goals against average is 1.55 but he did not always have the best defense in front of him.

What will be interesting now is what FC Dallas does with Dan Kennedy. They already have two solid goalkeepers in Raul Fernandez and Chris Seitz, now they add Kennedy. Is he going to be considered as an option in goal or used primarily as trade bait?

Of those three goalkeepers on their roster now, Kennedy looks to be the one who they could get the biggest return on if they do decide to trade him.

2.            New York City FC selects Matthew Dunn

The second selection was an intriguing one as New York City FC selected 20-year old midfielder Matthew Dunn. Dunn is a relative unknown who made four starts in the final portion of the season for Chivas USA playing both centrally and on the right side of midfield. Ironically, Chivas won both matches in which he started on the right side. He finished the season with one assist in seven appearances.

Dunn brings with him some professional experience from Europe having spent a few seasons in the youth academy of FC Cologne in Germany before signing a professional contract with OFK Beograd in Serbia where he did not made any appearances for the first team. He now joins New York City FC alongside Frank Lampard in the midfield.

3.            Sporting Kansas City pass

4.            DC United selects Thomas McNamara

Another rookie selection as the regular season Eastern Conference Champs selected midfielder Thomas McNamara. The 23-year-old quickly made an impact with Chivas USA starting the first six matches of the season before a knee injury ended it. He scored a goal in the opening match against the Chicago Fire in the 3-2 win for Chivas USA.

McNamara is an attacking-minded midfielder that will push Luis Silva for playing time. It could also allow Ben Olsen to give Silva more playing time up front in a 4-1-3-2 formation alongside either Fabian Espindola or Eddie Johnson.

5.            New England Revolution pass

6.            Montreal Impact selects Donny Toia

This may be one of the best additions in this Dispersal Draft as the Montreal Impact add a young fullback to their squad. The 22-year-old Toia made 27 appearances including 24 starts for Chivas USA in 2014 playing on both the left and right sides of the defense.

His natural position is on the left side which fits perfectly with the Impact. They had seven different players start at left back in 2014 with Krzysztof Krol’s 11 starts being the most by any player on the team.

7.            Orlando City SC pass

8.            Colorado Rapids select Caleb Calvert

Calvert is a tall (6-foot-2) striker who is just 18 years old. He did not make any appearances for Chivas in 2014 but will add some height to the Colorado attack.

9.            San Jose Earthquakes select Kristopher Tyrpak

The San Jose Earthquakes added another young piece to their attack as they selected Kris Tyrpak with the ninth pick. Tyrpak scored a goal and added an assist in just 156 minutes of game action in 2014. He is 22 years old and will likely be asked to learn as much from Chris Wondolowski as possible.

10.          Real Salt Lake pass

11.           Houston Dynamo pass

12.          Portland Timbers pass

13.          Chicago Fire pass

14            Toronto FC select Marco Delgado

Toronto FC picked up the versatile Marco Delgado with their pick in the Dispersal Draft. The 19-year-old has made 37 appearances for Chivas USA over his three seasons with the club which included two goals this past season. He played in almost every position on the field while he was at Chivas including starts at right, left, and center midfield as well as left and right back.

15.          Columbus Crew SC pass

16.          LA Galaxy pass

17.          Philadelphia Union pass

18.          New York Red Bulls pass

19.          Seattle Sounders FC pass

20.          Vancouver Whitecaps pass
